Richard “Scott” Silverthorne, the mayor of the City of Fairfax, has been arrested after he allegedly gave methamphetamine to an undercover detective in exchange for an sexual encounter, Fairfax County police say.
Silverthorne was arrested Thursday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Tysons Corner.
Police say an undercover detective created a profile on a website, and within a few days, Silverthorne made contact. The mayor allegedly told the detective he could provide meth in exchange for sexual encounters.
The detective agreed to meet with Silverthorne, and Silverthorne agreed to bring other men to the engagement, police say.
On Thursday, Silverthorne brought the meth to the Chain Bridge Road hotel, police say. He was arrested and charged with felony distribution of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Silverthorne has been the mayor of the City of Fairfax since 2012. He is also a substitute teacher for the Fairfax County Public Schools.
